Road Safety

The fifth edition of the "Drive responsibly" campaign, organized by Open Youth, was carried out in 2012 with a new and more creative approach. It was part of the "Open Youth" ACCORD* project, which is supported by the "Youth in Action" program of the European Commission Directorate General "Education and Culture" within the 2011 EU / China Year of Youth. The main objective of the project is to lay the grounds for establishing long-term cooperation between European Union and Chinese organizations in the field of road safety. The main working methods are based on the cross-fertilization of experience between the partner organizations, focusing on the exchange of road safety knowledge, skills and tools.

The campaign started with training for trainers during the "Youth in Action" program annual meeting of the National Centre "European Youth Programs and Initiatives". It was held on May 21st, 2012 in Youth Theatre "Nikolay Binev", Sofia. The meeting was organized in relation to the 2011 projects evaluation, funded by the "Youth in Action" program. Actions in Vidin (June 30th, 2012) and Pernik (August 19th, 2012) followed. The last activity was carried out on October 11th, 2012 at 10:00 am in the 72nd kindergarten in Sofia (Darvenica, 11 “Belimel” Str.) where representatives of youth organizations dealing with road risks prevention issues in Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Belgium and China, “played” with the kids to explain them in an interesting and entertaining way the risks on the road. At the event, they built a road safety playground for the kids, which was donated to the kindergarten by the organizers from "Open Youth".
