Road Safety

In 2008 we carried out the "Drive responsibly" campaign for the first time. It happened in the framework of the "Youth and Road Safety II" project, supported by the "Youth in Action" programme.

In this project, we worked on providing media with appropriate data and raising public awareness of youth safety initiatives. The added value was provided by the exeptional variety of cultures, nationalities and previous experience of our partner organizations. For the project we invited 5 partner groups from Belgium, Hungary, Portugal, Romania and Greece. We have worked with all of them before.

Half of the activities were carried outdoors. During the project, the participants had the opportunity to work with advanced technologies for road safety, namely driving simulators, provided by Responsible Young Drivers and Toyota Europe.

Using this interesting and unusual approach we reached thousands of young Bulgarians. In support of our initiative we disseminated 30 000 brochures, giving short information about the events, their international dimention and our message.

From 24th to 29th of September we visited Vidin, Montana, Vratsa and Sofia in an effort to sensate the society of the dangers in driving under influence of alcohol and in aggressive driving. A follow up action was done at the International fair in Plovdiv. In total of 9 actions in Bulgaria, 540 participants took place in the Toyota Corolla Verso to experiment a virtual driving with the Driving Simulator, 394 participants took place in the Alcokart, with more than 1.085 direct visitors.
