"Ten D by night" is a transnational project aiming to increase awareness of European young people of alcohol and drugs effects on their driving ability. By installing information and testing points in young people’s recreational meeting places, the project allowed young people interested in participating to experience FULLY ANONYMOUSLY several tests.

The strategic aim of "Ten D" project is to define a European approach in order to contribute to the reduction of the number and seriousness of road accidents, in particular the ones in which young people are involved, that occur during weekends and can be correlated with the consumption of alcohol and drugs.

In order to achieve the above mentioned methodology was used: dissemination of informative and awareness-raising material, installation of information points in young people’s recreational meeting places, administration of a anonymous questionnaire, performance of anonymous alcohol/drugs tests, measurement of reaction time in driving and comparison between the results of such measurement and data from both the questionnaire and alcohol/drugs tests. Available information will be then implemented to define intervention policies at both national and community level.

"10 D by night" is supported by the Executive Agency on Health and Consumers of the European Commissionand was aimed at focusing the young peoples’ attention on the dangers on the road. The actions were carried out in the most active graduation period of the year – between 20 and 30 of May, when there is an increased danger of road accidents.

The initiatives were supported by the municipalities of Vidin, Ruse, Veliko Turnovo, Gabrovo, Sliven and Burgas. There were a total of 15 actions in those cities in which 1130 young people took part. Every participant had the opportunity to test his/her driving abilities by completing a survey, two alcotests, one drug test and two reaction tests.
